Job summary

Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH seeks an Associate Teacher to join a caring teaching team. Under the Lead Teacher, you will support curriculum planning, supervise part‑time staff, and help meet the developmental needs of a group of children.

This onsite position requires an Associates degree or equivalent plus Early Childhood Education credits; the role includes 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with start times around 7:30 am and end times around 3:30–5:30 pm.

Qualifications

  • Associates or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 9 credits in Early Childhood Education.
  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.

  • Assists with well‑rounded curriculum planning and child assessment.
  • Assists with developing a comprehensive curriculum focusing on children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

  • Assists with adapting programming to meet individual needs and families.
  • Interacts with children during activities to support learning and extend play.
  • Assumes leadership of activities when needed.

Position Purpose

As a member of a teaching team, the Associate Teacher works under the direction of the Lead Teacher in meeting the care, developmental and educational needs for a group of children. Works with all staff to create a warm, caring, and safe environment for the care of young children. Participates in planning and implementing the curriculum, guiding children’s behavior, communicating with parents, recording children’s developmental progress, and supervising part‑time staff. Assumes role of Lead Teacher in his/her absence.

  • Dispenses and stores medications in accordance with Center policies.
