Job summary

Luzerne County Head Start is seeking an Early Childhood Education Assistant to support classroom activities for 3- and 4-year-olds and promote school readiness. You will assist the Head Start Teacher in planning and carrying out educational activities in alignment with performance standards and local plans.

Requirements include an ECE credential (or HS diploma with CDA/AA within 2 years), bilingual English/Spanish a plus, and background clearances.

Qualifications

• Bilingual abilities are a plus (English/Spanish).
• Must have Early Childhood Education credential or HS diploma with CDA/AA plan within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain a classroom atmosphere promoting school readiness for 3- and 4-year-olds.
• Assist Head Start Teacher in planning and carrying out educational activities per national standards and local plans.

Implement educational activities by providing and maintaining an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices for 3 and 4-year old children. Assist the Head Start Teacher in planning and carrying out educational activities to meet the National Head Start Program Performance Standards and local plan.

Conditions of Employment
Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. requires staff to possess current, valid Background Clearances (3). Proof of education required to meet the qualifications for position.

FULL TIME, 37.5 hrs/wk- Working a school schedule (10 months) August-June annually, with an established summer break between school years.

Rate of Pay – Based on Education:

AA in ECE Degree – $18.62/hr
CDA – $16.99/hr
HS Diploma/GED – $16.43/hr
For those who possess Bilingual Abilities (Eng/Spanish) – 5% additional pay
