Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior / Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to own P&C designs for 12–500 kV systems. You’ll apply advanced digital logic and AC/DC expertise to protect the grid and enable renewable integration.

Lead, mentor, and collaborate with a high‑performing team while supporting career growth, training, and client success. Travel to project sites will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.
• 8+ years of substation protection & control design experience.
• Experience leading and executing substation protection & control projects.
• Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and clients.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation protection and control design projects, ensuring quality and on‑time performance.
• Create relay one‑line diagrams defining protection zones and system topology.
• Develop detailed AC schematics showing current, voltage, and protection device relationships.
• Produce DC control and protection schematics for safe operation of substations.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and layouts for efficient construction and maintainability.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with project criteria and client requirements.
• Perform QC checks on wiring and schematics for safety and constructability.
• Contribute from scoping through energization support and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance during installation and testing.
