Job summary

WSP USA in New York, NY is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer to support the Property and Buildings Team on diverse building projects. You will assist with analysis, design, and construction documentation for steel, concrete, masonry, and foundations, using industry software and BIM tools.

The role emphasizes collaboration with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant structural solutions while growing technical judgment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of post-education experience.
• Knowledge of structural engineering principles and design/build processes.
• Familiar with rehab and new design for infrastructure projects.
• Familiar with codes, regulations, and documentation.
• Analytical mindset with sound judgement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in teams.
• Experience with SAFE, ETABS, RAM, Sp Column, AutoCAD, Revit, Excel.
• Commitment to safety and policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic professional structural engineering work and research.
• Develop models and calculations using industry software.
• Prepare construction documents and technical reports.
• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to deliver solutions.
• Support project risk assessment and design concepts.
• Assist with work plan preparation and site coordination.
