Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Consultant Structural Engineer in New York, NY. You will support the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects, contributing to both public and private sector work.

Responsibilities include data analysis, modeling, reporting, and collaboration within a cross-functional team. Applicants should have 3–5 years post-education experience and an Engineer in Training certification, with proficiency in major structural software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 3–5 years of post-education engineering experience with structural or civil design.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, and design/build processes.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehab and new design.
• Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
• Knowledge of sustainability concepts and regulatory compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with design software and analytical tools.
• Willingness to travel on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze data from site surveys, blueprints, GIS, and geotechnical data for project development and design.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and assist with research and inspections of site conditions and design.
• Incorporate advanced modeling, design requirements, and operating strategies for safe, functional structures.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, planners on cross-functional teams to execute projects.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance for structural soundness.
• Prepare data visualizations, charts, reports, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations.
• Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements and analyses.
• Assist in scoping small- to medium-sized projects and developing action plans.
• Contribute to technical reports and presentations to address design/construction issues.
• Support HASP development and safety planning.
• Coordinate with authorities on funded improvement projects.
