Position Summary:

Soufflé Therapeutics is expanding its Ligand Optimization team within Protein Science to meet growing pre-clinical pipeline demand and to evolve our ligand engineering platform with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and generative AI/ML biologics design. As an Associate Scientist II, you will run hands-on ligand optimization work while helping build the data-driven workflows that shape how we discover and engineer our cell-type specific therapeutics. This is a new role with direct impact on advancing our pre-clinical programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support ligand optimization efforts to meet the needs of our pre-clinical programs
• Perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows to bolster ligand library screening activities
• Partner with the data science team to design and generate ligand libraries using deep sequencing data and AI/ML generative models
• Perform ligand library screening using yeast or phage display methodologies
• Partner with the protein production and ligand screening teams to produce reagents and evaluate ligands that enable biologics discovery activities

What Success Looks Like

• In 3 months: Become familiar with our established ligand optimization workflows
• In 6 months: Independently perform ligand optimization experiments and NGS library preparation and sequencing
• In 12 months: Contribute to ligand library design using AI/ML computational models and execute optimization campaigns to completion

Qualifications — Required

• 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role with an MS, or 2 to 3 years with a BS
• Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS), flow cytometry, and cell culture

Qualifications — Preferred

• Experience with antibody engineering methodologies
• Experience with yeast and/or phage display
• Familiarity with computational protein design tools
• Self-starter who collaborates well and communicates clearly

Education

• BS or MS in a relevant scientific discipline
