The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is a leading center for Translational Immunology.

Dr. Megan Sykes is seeking a highly motivated Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Medicine's Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) to contribute to cutting-edge research focused on immune tolerance and transplantation. The successful candidate will play a leading role in externally and internally funded research projects, conducting studies involving mouse models of the human immune system and advancing our understanding of T cell immunology and transplant tolerance.

This position involves leading bench-based research, performing data analysis, and interpreting and presenting research findings. The Associate Research Scientist will also prepare progress reports and manuscripts and contribute to studies of transplant tolerance in both preclinical humanized mouse models and human transplant recipients, including patients participating in related clinical trials. The individual will devote 100% effort to research activities within the Sykes Laboratory.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhDor equivalent doctoral degree in Immunology, Transplantation Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory equipment, research methodologies, and experimental protocols related to immunology and transplantation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and present complex research data, including large datasets.
  • Extensive expertise in the generation, maintenance, and analysis of human immune system (HIS) mouse models.
  • Experience performing laboratory procedures and surgical techniques in mice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, and statistical analysis software.
  • Prior experience with the handling, care, and treatment of laboratory mice.
  • Experience managing collaborative and multidisciplinary research projects.

Salary Range: $79,327.00 - $82,869.00

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
