Job summary

Hospice of Marion, part of Empath Health, seeks a Bereavement & Children's Program Counselor. You will provide individual, family, and group grief counseling to children, teens, adults, and families in a community-based setting.

Role involves intake assessments, risk screening for trauma and crisis, and developing care plans. Participation in outreach, partnerships, and education is expected to expand children's grief services across the service area.

Qualifications

• MSW degree preferred; or master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Child Life, or related field.
• Licensure OR Licensure eligible (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, RMHCI, etc.)
• Minimum two years of counseling experience with children, adolescents, adults and families.
• Experience in bereavement, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention and family systems preferred.
• Community outreach, program development or referral relationships experience preferred.
• Reliable transportation for field-based tasks and activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and group grief counseling to children, teens, adults, and families.
• Conduct intake assessments to determine eligibility, treatment needs and group readiness.
• Perform risk assessments related to grief, trauma, suicide risk and other psychosocial concerns.
• Develop and maintain individualized plans of care with progress documentation.

Hospice of Marion, a part of Empath Health is seeking a Bereavement & Children's Program Counselor. This role serves as a key clinical resource for both adult and pediatric grief support programming, delivering individual, family, and group counseling services while helping to expand awareness, participation, and community engagement in the children's bereavement program.In addition to direct clinical care, this position is responsible for developing community partnerships, conducting outreach and educational presentations, supporting volunteer facilitators, and implementing strategies to increase referrals and participation in children's grief support services.
