Job summary

Tidewell Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a Senior Staff Nurse to provide compassionate care with a Monday–Friday, 8a–5p schedule, and to lead and mentor the nursing team. You will work closely with the Care Team Manager to enhance patient comfort and support families with warmth and expertise.

Ideal candidates have an RN license in Florida, at least one year of supervisory experience, hospice exposure, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or related experience.
  • Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Valid Florida State Driver’s License.
  • CPR certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Current IV Therapy certification preferred; must obtain within six months of hire date.
  • Strong preference for at least one year supervisory experience.
  • Strong preference for two years Hospice experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in coordinating team functions with the Care Team Manager, including QA/PI activities.
  • Acts as mentor and first-line resource to Nursing staff and supervises Hospice Aide staff.
  • Uses assessment and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and quality of life for patients and families.
  • Identifies patient/family needs and guides staff to provide preventative and supportive hospice care.

Tidewell, a member of Empath Health is seeking a caring and motivated Senior Staff Nurse to work with us while providing exceptional care on the following Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p. Since 1980, Tidewell Hospice has proudly served families across southwest Florida with compassionate, dignified care. What you’ll Do

Provides support and leadership in coordinating team functions in collaboration with and support of the Care Team Manager, including Quality Assessment Performance improvements, supervisory visits and other activities as appropriate. An active, formal mentor and first line resource to the Nursing staff and a direct supervisor to the Hospice Aide staff on the Team, providing teaching, support and guidance. Utilizes assessment, intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit. Responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for guiding staff to provide preventative and supportive care to terminally ill patients/families.

What You’ll Need
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse
  • Valid Florida State Driver’s License
  • Certifications: Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Current IV Therapy certification preferred. Must obtain the certification within six months of hire date.
  • Strong preference for at least one (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Strong preference for minimum of two (2) years Hospice experience.

For field-based positions, employees must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee’s HR file.
