Job summary

McKinstry in Spokane, WA seeks an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join the New Construction team, focusing on design, coordination, and execution of large-scale projects. You’ll collaborate with preconstruction, detailing, and field teams to deliver high-performance, constructible mechanical systems.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and applying DBOM thinking to optimize life-cycle performance, energy use, and client profitability while keeping projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in engineering design and related field; at least 3 years of project and people management.
• Valid Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams on multi-discipline projects.
• Load calculation experience using IES VE, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, Elite CHVAC or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam.
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Energy modeling experience preferred; onsite construction experience preferred.
• Master's degree in engineering preferred; LEED/WELL accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers across multiple projects.
• Coordinate design and engineering with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop lead and project engineers.
• Own project correspondence, issue tracking, decisions, and direction.
• Oversee production of design drawings and BIM models for construction.
• Lead design meetings with customers and external stakeholders.
