Job summary

LHH, partnering with a rapidly growing national real estate company, seeks an experienced attorney for a hands-on in-house role supporting a nationwide portfolio of about 270 properties across 40 states.

The ideal attorney will remain closely involved in legal matters, advise executives, manage outside counsel, and help build the internal legal function with significant autonomy and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal experience in real estate or related fields.
• Experience handling landlord-tenant, eviction, unlawful detainer, and real estate litigation matters.
• Ability to manage matters independently from intake through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Handle landlord-tenant and eviction matters from intake through resolution.
• Advise operational leaders on day-to-day legal issues impacting property operations.
• Partner with executives to provide practical, risk-based legal advice.
• Manage and coordinate outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
• Handle dispute resolution, settlement negotiations, and legal strategy.
• Advise on employment, regulatory, compliance, and operational issues as they arise.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
• Help establish processes, procedures, and best practices as the legal function grows.

LHH is partnering with a rapidly growing national real estate company to identify an experienced attorney for a highly visible in-house legal role supporting a nationwide portfolio of approximately 270 properties across 40 states.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys being hands-on, actively practicing law, and partnering directly with business leaders. The role offers substantial responsibility, significant autonomy, and the opportunity to help build and shape an expanding in-house legal function.

Unlike many in-house positions that focus primarily on legal operations or oversight, this role is ideal for an attorney who wants to remain closely involved in legal matters while serving as a trusted advisor to company leadership.

About the Role

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of legal experience
• Significant experience handling landlord-tenant, eviction, unlawful detainer, and/or real estate litigation matters
• Experience managing matters independently from intake through resolution
• Strong business judgment and practical problem-solving skills
• Ability to work directly with executives, operations teams, and outside counsel
• Organized, responsive, and self-directed approach
