Job summary

Orchard, headquartered in New York City, is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join the Legal & Regulatory team. You will help build and evolve product offerings, expand to new jurisdictions, and manage legal risk across regulated real estate services.

The ideal candidate has 7–12 years of experience in commercial and regulatory law, with strong negotiation, contract and data privacy expertise, and the ability to lead across teams.

Qualifications

• 7–12 years of experience in commercial and/or regulatory space, ideal mix of law firm and in-house roles.
• Strong experience with commercial contracts and regulatory reviews.

Responsibilities

• Act as a legal multiplier across commercial and regulatory issues for Orchard products and services.
• Negotiate and structure complex contracts, partnerships, and joint ventures.
• Collaborate with real estate brokerage, mortgage, title and closing services to ensure compliant offerings and expansion into new states.
• Partner with Product & Engineering to balance innovation with legal risk.
• Engage with state regulators during expansion and regulatory inquiries.
• Manage outside law firms and oversee data privacy and information security policies.
• Potential involvement in equity/debt financings and M&A transactions.
