Job summary

Orchard is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our Legal & Regulatory team. You will work across business units to structure commercial agreements, navigate regulatory frameworks for real estate and mortgage services, and help expand Orchard’s product offerings while balancing risk.

This full-time role reports to the General Counsel, requires at least 7 years in commercial or regulatory law, and bar admission in good standing.

Qualifications

• Have at least 7 years of experience in commercial and/or regulatory law.
• Experience negotiating commercial contracts and leading discussions with large organizations.
• Knowledge of housing-related regulatory frameworks (RESPA, TILA, etc.) is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial and autonomous, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and judgment; able to partner with product, engineering, and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Act as a legal swiss-army knife across several practice areas, with a focus on commercial and regulatory issues.
• Lead negotiations and manage commercial partnerships from inception to execution.
• Assist mortgage-related offerings, including policies and compliance with federal/state law.
• Collaborate with title companies to innovate while staying compliant with state laws.
• Partner with Product & Engineering to balance innovation with regulatory risk.
• Engage with state regulators regarding expansion and compliance inquiries.
• Manage outside law firms to optimize cost and effectiveness.
• Contribute to data privacy and information security policy improvement.
