Orchard is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its fast-growing Legal & Regulatory team. As the third member of this team, the Associate General Counsel will play a pivotal role in shaping Orchard’s legal strategy as the company continues to expand and innovate in the residential real estate sector. This position partners closely with teams across the organization to support new product development, market expansion, and the evolution of business lines, all while balancing business objectives with legal and regulatory risk.
The Associate General Counsel operates across all business units, providing guidance on commercial and regulatory matters, and serving as the primary legal contact for commercial partnerships. Responsibilities include supporting the growth of Orchard’s mortgage and title businesses, collaborating with Product & Engineering to ensure compliant innovation, engaging with state regulators, and managing outside counsel. The role also contributes to the ongoing development of data privacy and information security policies.
Ideal candidates bring at least 7 years of broad-based legal experience, including commercial contracts and regulatory matters, ideally within both law firm and in-house environments. Experience with residential real estate, mortgage lending, title insurance, and related regulatory frameworks is highly valued. The role requires strong judgment, autonomy, and the ability to navigate ambiguity, as well as a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
