Job summary

Smithfield is seeking an Associate Research and Development Technologist to drive innovation and cost optimization through formulation and processing improvements. You will support pilot plant tests and contribute to prototype development to shape future initiatives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, document product reviews, and ensure stakeholders stay informed on progress, while expanding knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations and meat science.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field required.
• Currently enrolled student with anticipated graduation by end of current term considered qualified.
• Strong scientific knowledge of meat and non-meat ingredients and functionality.

Responsibilities

• Support development of new products and line extensions from bench concepts to commercialization.
• Manage product formulations and project files in online database systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering) to document reviews and progress.
• Improve product development skills and understand USDA/FDA regulations.
