Smithfield Foods invites an Associate Research and Development Technologist to drive innovation and efficiency. You will support research projects, document critical findings, and help optimize costs through formulation and processing improvements.

You will shape cutting-edge prototypes, identify potential suppliers, and ensure high-quality standards while aligning with USDA/FDA regulations. Cross-functional collaboration will be essential to advancing development initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Food Science or related field.
Strong scientific knowledge of meat and non-meat ingredients and their functionality.
Proficient with online product development systems and related software tools.
Ability to read and write in English and document results clearly.
Willingness to travel up to 10–40% depending on location.

Responsibilities

Product Development and Commercialization: support development from bench to full commercialization with pilot plant tests.
Process and Data Management: manage formulations in online database, maintain project files and data.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with Business, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering, documenting reviews.
Skill Development and Compliance: improve skills through training and adhere to USDA/FDA requirements.
