Job summary
Smithfield Foods in Virginia (Smithfield) seeks an Associate Research and Development Technologist to drive innovation from bench to commercialization, manage product formulations in online databases, and contribute to cost optimization through formulation improvements.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and Engineering, document product reviews, and support compliance with USDA/FDA regulations while advancing development
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of meat and non-meat ingredients and their functionality.
- Experience with pilot plant equipment and product development software tools.
- Understanding USDA/FDA regulations relevant to product development.
Responsibilities
- Support development of new products from bench concepts to commercialization.
- Manage formulations in an online database and maintain accurate project files.
- Collaborate with Business, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering.
- Improve product development skills and ensure compliance with regulations.
