Job summary

Harris Williams is seeking a skilled FSC analyst to join its Financial Sponsorship and Corporate finance team in the Richmond area. You will develop proprietary analyses on buyer performance, deal trends, and pitch activity to support senior bankers and deal teams.

In this role you will own workflow coordination, surface insights for firm-wide distribution, and work with Analysts, Vice Presidents, and senior bankers to drive client-ready presentations.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or a related financial services role.
• Prior exposure to sponsor/financial institutions coverage, origination, or deal teams is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of business and financial markets concepts and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Direct and prioritize FSC team workstreams with Analysts, Vice Presidents, and senior bankers
• Develop proprietary data analyses covering buyer performance and behavior, deal trends, process dynamics, and pitch activity
• Track private equity industry and macroeconomic trends and translate findings into insights for senior bankers and deal teams
• Create FSC content for firmwide use
• Own strategy and idea generation for presentations supporting private equity client meetings and calls
• Coordinate between FSC Analysts/SCCs and senior bankers, keeping bankers informed of deliverable status
• Surface insights and observations for broader firm distribution
• Represent Harris Williams credibly in front of private equity professionals and take on sponsor-facing interactions over time
• Support, develop, and own recurring FSC reporting, internal dashboards, and standing deliverables
• Maintain current knowledge of the firm's CRM and partner with data services and technology teams on reports, interfaces, and data integrity
• Identify, pursue, and deliver value-adding projects supporting FSC strategy and broader firm needs

Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or a related financial services role

• Strong knowledge of business and financial markets concepts and terminology
• Deep proficiency across the Microsoft suite, including CRM, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Proficiency with industry/banker platforms such as Claude/AI tools, PitchBook, Mergermarket, CapIQ, and Upslide
• Strong analytical technique for evaluating proprietary and third-party PE and M&A industry data
• Ability to independently produce thoughtful, strategic final products
• Clear and succinct communication of key insights
• Independent and strategic thinking
• Ability to collaborate with FSC Analysts, senior bankers, SCCs, deal teams, industry bankers, and technology teams
• Ability to direct workstreams and manage detailed execution
• Professional polish, presence, and sound judgment
• University/college degree; a comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• No required certifications or licenses
• No required or preferred language assessments
• Must be able to satisfy applicable FDIA Section 19 and, where applicable, SAFE Act/FINRA requirements
