Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Associate Estimator in Utah to prepare estimates on diverse projects. You will share responsibility for cost accuracy with the project team and assist other estimators and managers in all estimating tasks.

The role involves reading contract documents, performing quantity take-offs, pricing information, and soliciting bids from subs and suppliers. Strong software knowledge and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience as stated.
• Preferred knowledge of Destini Estimator, BlueBeam, Assemble, On Screen Take-off.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to read and understand contract documents.
• Comfort working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
• Familiarity with Revit and Primavera is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Champions The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures Constructing with Integrity through honesty, unity, safety, and quality.
• Assists other in preparing estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with the preparation of bid proposals for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff with various special projects related to estimating.
