Position Overview
The Associate Director for Career Success advances Founder'sCollege's commitment to student success by preparing students toconfidently pursue meaningful careers and continued educationalopportunities. Through intentional career development, experientiallearning, employer and community partnerships, and individualizedcoaching, this position empowers students to discover theirstrengths, develop professional competencies, and successfully navigate their academic and professional journey.
The Associate Director develops and coordinates a comprehensivecareer development experience that guides students from enrollmentthrough graduation. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and community partners, this position integratescareer exploration, career readiness, experiential learning, and post-graduate preparation to ensure every student is equipped forsuccessful transfer, employment, and continued education.
Responsibilities
- Lead the career development continuum by designing, coordinating, and continuously improving a structured studentexperience that intentionally prepares students for successfultransfer, employment, and continued education.
- Develop and sustain employer, alumni, and communitypartnerships that expand internships, employment, mentoring, networking, and experiential learning opportunities aligned withFounder's College academic programs and student goals.
- Provide individualized and group career development coaching that helps students explore career interests, connect academicexperiences to career goals, build professional competencies, and prepare for career success.
- Coordinate career readiness initiatives by delivering workshops, employer engagement activities, networkingopportunities, mentoring experiences, and other programs that progressively prepare students for the workforce.
- Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to integratecareer development throughout the student experience and connectstudents with academic, experiential, and career resources.
- Evaluate and strengthen career development initiatives by monitoring student engagement, career outcomes, employerpartnerships, and program effectiveness to support continuousimprovement. Provide one‑on‑one counseling to help students explorecareer goals, interests, values, and skills, administer and interpret career assessments (e.g., personality tests, skillsinventories) to gain insights into their strengths and preferences,and assist with informed decision‑making regarding majors, careerpaths, and academic programs based on individual interests and thejob market.
- May occasionally operate University‑owned vehicles or operate a vehicle on the University’s behalf, to transport individuals,equipment, materials, and supplies in support of departmental and University activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Human Resources, Business, Community Development, or a related field required.
- Four to six years of progressively responsible experience incareer development, student success, workforce development, employer relations, higher education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience providing career coaching, advising, mentoring, or student development services that support careerreadiness and post‑graduate success.
- Experience developing and maintaining collaborativepartnerships with employers, community organizations, faculty, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to design, coordinate, and implementprograms or initiatives that improve student engagement, careerreadiness, and student success.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship‑building skills with the ability to engage diverse students, employers, faculty, alumni, and community partners.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, build processes, and execute initiatives effectively.
- Ability to analyze data, assess program effectiveness, and use results to support continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using career management, CRM, or student information systems.
- Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with University policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Business, or a related field.
- Experience working with first‑generation, transfer, or historically underserved student populations.
- Experience developing employer partnerships that create internships, experiential learning, or employment opportunities.
- Experience designing and delivering career readiness programming, workshops, or professional development initiatives.
- Knowledge of career development theory, experiential learning, and best practices in career readiness within higher education.
- Experience using career management platforms such as Handshake or similar systems.
