Job summary

Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking an Associate Director of Financial Aid to lead awarding, reporting, and reconciliation of aid programs. You will monitor compliance in PowerFAIDS, supervise staff, and provide training to Student Enrollment Services and Financial Aid teams.

You will counsel students and families on aid options, adjust awards for eligibility changes, and exercise professional judgment for special circumstances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Four to six years of experience in a financial aid office or related higher-education setting.
• Deliver excellent customer service.
• Experience managing at least one financial aid program.
• Ability to multi-task and shift between tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws and rules.
• Familiarity with federal databases (EDConnect, FPP, COD, NSLDS, EDExpress).
• General knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Ability to work extended hours.
• Experience with PowerFAIDS or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the management, awarding, reporting, and reconciliation of one or more financial aid programs.
• Support monitoring compliance in the financial aid management system (PowerFAIDS), streamlining operations, and analyzing queries and reports.
• Manage the Pre-College aid eligibility and awarding process.
• Identify pain points in the student experience and propose corrective actions with leadership.
• Counsel students and families regarding financial aid and planning.
• Revise awards reflecting changes in eligibility or budgets.
• Exercise professional judgment for special circumstances.
• Review applications and determine offers for new and returning students.
• Perform Title IV verification, PJ reviews, and dependency overrides.
• Hire and supervise student workers and process payroll information.
• Provide financial aid training to staff as needed.
• Serve as Undergraduate Admissions liaison to ensure proper packaging and counseling.
• Maintain policy and procedures documentation.
• Present to constituents about financial aid.
• Foster collaboration with campus partners to meet university goals.
• Participate in college committees and task forces.
• Evening and weekend hours as required.
• Other duties as assigned
