Job summary

Barings LLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Associate Director-level Assistant Controller to oversee accounting for real estate investments within Global Client Operations. You will manage portfolios, client reporting, and collaboration with internal and external clients, supporting the Real Estate Equity group.

The role requires broad accounting expertise, multi-tasking, and leadership of associates, with close interaction with senior management and investment teams. A CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience (Big 4 public accounting preferred).
• Experience in real estate fund accounting and preparation of financial statements is preferred.
• Project management skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA designation preferred.
• Ability to manage associates and strong written/verbal communication.
• Working knowledge of Excel and Word; Investran and MRI experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounting fiduciary responsibility over firm’s private real estate investments.
• Review and maintain partnership waterfalls for JV and Fund level entities.
• Maintain the general ledger and sub-ledgers; prepare trial balances.
• Perform the quarterly close process and review client deliverables.
• Manage workflow for capital calls and distributions; interact with investment teams.
• Produce client reports and account-level financial performance metrics.
