Job summary

Harvard University is seeking an Associate Director within the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development to manage a leadership portfolio and guide prospects from qualification through cultivation. This role focuses on biomedical philanthropy and requires strong fundraising acumen, collaboration, and strategic donor engagement.

You will work with the PMGG team, travel domestically as needed, and contribute to the design of donor-facing opportunities that advance prospect strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in fundraising, development, or related transferable experience.
  • Demonstrated frontline fundraising success and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with discretion and organization.
  • Willing to travel domestically and work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the leadership pipeline by identifying and qualifying leads and engaging HMS alumni.
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects in the $100K–$500K range with personalized cultivation and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with faculty and senior colleagues to advance six-figure gift solicitations.
  • Represent HMS at regional events and align engagements with prospect strategy.
  • Prepare briefings for donors and translate complex scientific topics for varied audiences.
