Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Associate Claims Specialist in Lake Oswego, OR. Under supervision you will develop knowledge to conduct investigations, determine liability and compensability, evaluate losses, negotiate settlements and manage an inventory of mid-sized and large commercial claims.

You will participate in a comprehensive training program and mentoring, assist in servicing policyholders and customers, and grow within a structured development path in a large national insurer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, analytical skills to gather information and draw conclusions.
• Ability to communicate clearly with appropriate detail.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
• Licensing may be required in some states.
• Knowledge of legal liability, insurance coverage and medical terminology helpful.

Responsibilities

• Investigates new claims by reviewing first reports of loss and supporting materials and gathers information.
• Establishes action plans based on case facts and resources.
• Manages an inventory of claims and negotiates settlements within prescribed limits.
• Establishes accurate loss cost estimates using available resources.
• Confirms or denies coverage based on investigation findings.
• Updates files and provides comprehensive reports.
