Job summary

Travelers Insurance Company in Colorado seeks an Associate Claim Counsel to handle Bond & Specialty Insurance claims with supervision. The role includes managing outside counsel, negotiating settlements, and providing legal insight to underwriting and claims teams.

Qualifications

• One to five years of relevant legal or claim handling work experience.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity with close supervision, following operational policies.
• With close management supervision, retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and other vendors, negotiating settlements when appropriate.
• Prepare management reports on loss development, financial exposure, and resolution strategies with guidance from management.
• Develop and coordinate recovery efforts with the Recovery Management Unit to optimize loss mitigation opportunities.
