Travelers Insurance is seeking an Associate Claim Counsel to join our Bond & Specialty Insurance team. You will manage assigned BSI claims, conduct investigations, analyze exposure, and support settlements under close supervision, while upholding the highest standards of integrity and service.

Collaborating with outside counsel and underwriting colleagues, you will help optimize outcomes, provide coverage opinions, and contribute to strategic initiatives across a diverse portfolio of liability,

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of relevant legal or claim handling work experience.
• Ability to work through conflict and resolve issues professionally.
• Ability to make sound decisions and negotiate within designated authority.
• Strong verbal and written communication to articulate coverage determinations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity with close supervision.
• Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and vendors; negotiate settlements as appropriate.
• Prepare management reports on loss development and exposure under guidance from management.
• Coordinate recovery efforts to optimize loss mitigation opportunities.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials, or depositions to support resolution.
• Provide legal and business support to underwriting colleagues with lower-complexity matters.
