Job summary

X-Factor Consulting in the Mid-Atlantic seeks an early-career Associate Building Enclosure Consultant to support envelope work across MD/VA/DC, with growth toward independent project ownership. The role blends office and field work, focusing on investigations, design review, QA, and field testing, while building technical capability through training and mentoring.

Responsibilities include site observations, reports, and client coordination; emphasis on quality, budgets, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years in architecture, engineering, construction, building science, or related industry.
• Exposure to construction, envelope systems, site inspections, construction administration, submittal review, or performance testing preferred.
• Experience with roofing, waterproofing, exterior cladding, glazing, sealants, or weather-resistive barriers is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support enclosure consulting on new construction and existing buildings, contributing to investigations, design review, quality verification, and field testing.
• Assist with proposals, contracts, project planning, construction administration, and client meetings.
• Help assess roofing, cladding, waterproofing, glazing, sealants, and weather barriers.
• Participate in site observations, envelope inspections, construction quality checks, and on-site performance assessments.
• Prepare technical reports, project records, status updates, and recommended next steps for clients and internal teams.
• Track project progress, reporting, budgets, invoicing, and change documentation.
