  • 5+ years in envelope consulting, forensic evaluation, restoration design, building science, or existing-building engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience diagnosing envelope failures and developing repair designs.
  • Working knowledge of roof assemblies, waterproofing, cladding, fenestration, sealants, balconies, and exterior wall systems.
  • Strong technical writing skills for investigation reports and construction documentation.
  • Historic or landmark rehabilitation experience is a plus

  • Serve as a primary technical advisor stakeholders.
  • Prepare assessment reports, drawings, specifications, and bid documents.

  • Coordinate with design teams, preservation specialists, contractors, and review agencies.
  • Complete technical peer reviews of reports, details, shop drawings, and submittals.
  • Present investigation results and recommended strategies within reports, meetings, and client briefings.
  • Mentor junior technical staff

Job description

Our client is hiring a Building Envelope Consultant for an excellent position based in the greater Washington D.C. area. This is an office- and field-based role leading investigations, supporting evaluations, diagnosis, repair, rehabilitation, and modernization envelope/enclosure, and exterior wall assemblies on a variety of commercial and housing structures.
