Job summary

ECS Mid-Atlantic, LLC seeks a Building Enclosure Assistant Staff Associate to join our Building Science + Infrastructure team in Charlottesville, VA. You will support building enclosure consulting projects while developing foundational skills in field investigations, testing, technical analysis, and report preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), Civil (Structural) Engineering, or Architectural Engineering.
• 0-2 years of related experience.
• Certifications may be required; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and IIBEC certifications (RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC, CBECxP) are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform building science & infrastructure related testing and consulting services.
• Assist with specialized building enclosure testing.
• Document QA observations and prepare field reports.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of IBC and local building codes as they relate to the building enclosure.
• Interact with staff on a variety of projects.
• Attend project meetings with senior staff.
• Interface with contractors and site personnel daily.
• Keep supervisor informed of changing site conditions and testing requests.
• Prioritize tasks with supervisor guidance.
• Support writing reports and develop basic writing skills under supervision.
• Relate field observations to findings in the report.
• Other duties as assigned.
