Job summary

IFMK Law, Ltd. in Illinois seeks a Workers' Compensation Defense Associate with 2–5 years of experience. You will manage a litigation caseload under an assigned Mentor and have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the firm.

The firm offers in-house training and a broad range of matters, including depositions, negotiations, and all litigation stages. Initial in-office start in Chicago, Northbrook, or Champaign, with hybrid work from home available after onboarding.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

• We are seeking a Workers' Compensation Defense Associate with 2-5 years of experience. Opportunities and responsibilities for qualified individuals include:
• Managing a litigation caseload under an assigned Mentor with the opportunity to work with others in the firm
• Our in-house skills training program, including handling of cases start-to-finish, conducting depositions, etc., consistent with your level of prior experience
• Handling depositions of medical experts and witnesses
• Working closely with the client to complete a thorough investigation of the claim
• Online legal research using WestNext
• Negotiating cases with opposing counsel
• Direct hands-on in all stages of litigation, including pre-trials, trials, and appeals
• Involvement in a variety of non-litigation collaborations and projects
• Maintaining and developing relationships with a wide variety of clients, from major corporations and large municipalities to small businesses and public entities

Required Skills/Abilities:

• A valid Illinois law license in good standing with the bar.
• Exceptional professionalism and communication skills.

Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $100,000.00-$120,000.00, commensurate with experience, plus the potential for quarterly bonuses, and we provide a comprehensive benefits package.

This Associate will start initially in-office in Chicago, Northbrook, or Champaign, with hybrid work from home allowed following initial onboarding and training at the discretion of the firm and dependent upon the progression of the skills and our confidence in the work of the new associate.
