A mid-sized New York law firm with a long-standing, nationally recognized banking practice is adding a mid-level associate to its growing finance group. The practice sits firmly on the lender side, representing banks and other financial institutions across domestic and cross-border lending, letter of credit work, and specialty finance.
This is a transactional seat with real breadth. You’ll work on syndicated and bilateral deals, secured and unsecured, for institutional lenders, with a meaningful share of letter of credit and reimbursement work that most finance associates rarely get close to. Deals run from first structuring conversations through to closing, and at a firm this size you’ll be drafting and negotiating the core documents yourself rather than managing a checklist for someone else.
The group is growing and has been adding senior talent, which means room for associates who can take on more. Letters of credit, trade finance, and fund finance are specialist corners of the market, and building depth in them early makes you far harder to replace than a generalist leveraged finance associate. In a mid-sized group you’ll be working directly with the partners who lead these relationships, not three layers removed from them.
You’re a finance associate who already knows your way around a credit agreement and wants to go deeper on the lender side. You’re comfortable owning documents, keeping several deals moving at once, and working through the UCC and bankruptcy questions that sit underneath them. You’re open to using AI tools where they actually make the work better.
Base salary of $170,000 to $200,000, depending on experience and skill set, plus a discretionary year-end bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, a flexible spending plan, a 401(k), and generous paid time off and holidays.
