Caleres, Inc. in Saint Louis, MO is seeking an Associate Account Merchant to support key retail partnerships, analyze business performance, and drive assortment and inventory strategies that maximize sales and profitability.

The role focuses on partnering with the Account Merchant to execute plans, monitor performance, and ensure timely replenishment while collaborating with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and work experience.
• 2–4+ years buying/retail/wholesale experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision making.
• Experience with inventory and Open to Buy planning tools.
• Excel and Office proficiency; SAP/BI a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Account Merchant to execute business and assortment plans.
• Analyze sales, inventory, projections and promotions via reports.
• Support initial buy allocations, weekly replenishment and inventory.
• Manage buying office functions: sizing, orders, markdowns, dropship.
• Identify opportunities across categories, regions and climates.
• Develop understanding of Open to Buy and retail/wholesale planning.

What will you be doing?

• Support Account & Assortment Strategies: Partner with the Account Merchant to execute business and assortment plans that support brand strategies and achieve sales and financial goals.
• Analyze Business Performance: Monitor sales, inventory, projections, and promotional strategies through daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to identify opportunities that improve sales, margin, and inventory turn.
• Manage Inventory & Replenishment: Support initial buy allocations, weekly replenishment, fill-ins, and store and digital inventory to ensure the right product is available at the right time.
• Execute Buying Operations: Manage key buying office functions, including sizing and writing orders, markdowns, dropship setup and maintenance, while ensuring buying and shipping deadlines are met.
• Identify Business Opportunities: Analyze performance across categories, regions, climates, and consumer feedback to identify opportunities that support both short- and long-term business goals.
• Build Planning Expertise: Develop a strong understanding of Open to Buy (OTB), financial productivity, and retail and wholesale planning to support informed business decisions.

Qualifications that make you the perfect fit!

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 2–4+ years of buying, retail, wholesale, sales planning, or related experience preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
• Experience with inventory and Open to Buy (OTB) planning tools
• Ability to communicate analytical information clearly and concisely to both internal and external partners
• Highly collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• SAP and Business Intelligence (BI) experience is a plus
• Ability to travel approximately 10–25%
