Job summary

Caleres is seeking a Senior Accountant, Wholesale Accounting in Clayton, MO to lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities and deliver accurate financial reporting.

You will analyze variances, ensure GAAP compliance, and collaborate with finance, IT, and business leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision making while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• ERP experience, SAP is a plus.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with a passion for process improvement, financial integrity, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You Will Be Doing

Lead Accounting & Financial Close Activities:

Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to wholesale accounting activities.Prepare financial reporting and analysis to support business and leadership decision-making.

Drive Accurate Financial Reporting & Compliance:

Performing account reconciliations and balance sheet analyses in accordance with GAAP, company policies, and SOX requirements. Includes the reviewing of accruals, liabilities, and expense accounts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.

Deliver Financial Insights & Business Support:

Analyze actual results against forecasts and budgets while identifying and explaining key variances. An ability to provide timely and dependable financial analysis and reporting in response to changing business needs.

Collaborate & Build Strong Partnerships:

Collaborate closely with accounting, finance, IT, FP&A, and business leaders to support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational decision-making while ensuring reporting objectives are achieved. Provide financial analysis and close-cycle support across the organization, while fostering a collaborative team environment through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
