Job summary

Caleres, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Senior Accountant, Wholesale Accounting in St. Louis, MO to translate financial data into actionable business insights. You will lead close activities, ensure GAAP compliance, and provide timely financial analysis across the organization.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting skills, experience with general ledger and reconciliations, and a track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong GAAP and financial reporting knowledge.
• Experience with GL, reconciliations, and month-end close; SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and financial close activities for wholesale accounting, prepare reports for leadership.
• Perform account reconciliations and balance sheet analyses in line with GAAP and SOX.
• Analyze results vs forecasts and explain key variances for business decisions.
• Collaborate with accounting, finance, IT, FP&A and leaders to support reporting and budgeting.

Senior Accountant, Wholesale Accounting in St. Louis, MO! We're looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys translating complex financial data into meaningful business insights. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with a passion for process improvement, financial integrity, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You Will Be Doing

Lead Accounting & Financial Close Activities: Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to wholesale accounting activities. Prepare financial reporting and analysis to support business and leadership decision-making.
Drive Accurate Financial Reporting & Compliance: Performing account reconciliations and balance sheet analyses in accordance with GAAP, company policies, and SOX requirements. Includes the reviewing of accruals, liabilities, and expense accounts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.
Deliver Financial Insights & Business Support: Analyze actual results against forecasts and budgets while identifying and explaining key variances. An ability to provide timely and dependable financial analysis and reporting in response to changing business needs.
Collaborate & Build Strong Partnerships: Collaborate closely with accounting, finance, IT, FP&A, and business leaders to support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational decision-making while ensuring reporting objectives are achieved. Provide financial analysis and close-cycle support across the organization, while fostering a collaborative team environment through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
