Job summary

ATA provides accounting, auditing, tax and advisory services across the Southeast. The Tax Associate role supports the Tax department in preparing and filing income tax returns for individuals and entities, working with senior professionals to deliver accurate results.

You will prepare federal, state, and local returns, assist in projections and planning, and help with tax provision workpapers and disclosures, ensuring deadlines are met and high-quality work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Proven understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax projections and planning strategies for clients.

Job description

ATA provides a wide array of accounting, auditing, tax, and advisory services for clients ranging from small family-owned businesses to large corporations. Headquartered in Jackson, Tennessee, since 1940, ATA has over 300 employees across 18 locations throughout the Southeast.

As a Tax Associate, you will be an integral part of our Tax department, providing essential support in preparing and filing income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities. This full-time, salaried role requires a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about helping clients effectively manage their tax obligations. You will work closely with senior tax professionals, contributing to tax planning strategies, projections, and financial reporting to deliver optimal results for our clients.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax projections and planning strategies for clients.
  • Support senior tax professionals in managing end-to-end client engagements.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax provision workpapers and financial statement disclosures.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification or candidacy is a plus.
  • Proven understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
