Job summary

Independence Blue Cross is seeking an Associate Research Support Specialist to help evaluate escalated business incidents, assign to the correct team, and define next steps toward resolution. You will research source systems, engage relevant business areas, and document progress with clear notes.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in healthcare or office settings, strong communication, team‑oriented and independent work style, and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access).

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years healthcare/office experience or related internship.
  • Excellent oral and written communication; follow policies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data management (Excel, Word, Access).
  • Must have an Android or iOS device compatible with Microsoft Authenticator.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate escalated business incidents to ensure complete information and clear issue definition.
  • Determine the appropriate assignment group for incidents based on incident protocols.
  • Decide the next steps needed to bring an issue to resolution.
  • Research the applicable source systems to determine the nature of the issue.
  • Identify which business areas need to be engaged to bring the issue to resolution.
  • Provide clear and complete work notes so users understand progress and status of every incident.
  • Ensure a root cause is identified and that corrective actions and data cleanup are completed.
  • Analyze and refine data extracts to create reports.

Experience

Preferred 1-2 years working in healthcare/office setting, or relevant internship or co-op work experience

Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to follow detailed policies and procedures.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Skills in MS Office applications and data management including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Access required.
Education

Bachelors Degree preferred.
