Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation engineering or closely related field, plus at least two years in special education or assistive technology services.
  • Master’s degree in rehabilitation engineering or closely related field.
  • Alabama Driver’s License.
  • Must travel extensively in Alabama by personal automobile.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise between Department of Rehabilitation and school systems to handle student AT needs.
  • Consult and assess students for assistive technology.
  • Develop written AT reports with specifications for interventions.
  • Document work in case management databases, timesheets, and files.
  • Work with school staff, ADRS counselors, and rehab engineers to implement AT recommendations; provide setup, training, and support on AT devices.
  • Participate in quality improvement and assurance activities; provide guidance on AT services.
  • Market AT services to schools and other agencies.
  • Create and maintain a high-performance, team-oriented environment.
  • Stay updated on current trends by reading and attending related seminars and conferences.
