Town of Ludlow seeks an Assistant Treasurer/Collector to manage day-to-day operations, including tax and utility billing, collections, payroll, and accounts payable. The role may serve as Acting Treasurer/Collector during absences.
The position requires an Associate degree in accounting/finance or related field with 3–5 years of related experience, municipal bookkeeping preferred, and notary/bonding eligibility. Competitive hourly pay with full benefits.
Under the direction of the Treasurer/Collector, the Assistant Treasurer/Collector supports the day-to-day operations of the department. Responsibilities include the administration of tax and utility billing and collections; treasury and cash management functions; local revenue administration, and oversight of payroll and accounts payable, including disbursements. The Assistant may serve as Acting Treasurer/Collector during periods of temporary absence.
Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Municipal bookkeeping experience is highly desired. Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to effectively resolve complex inquiries. Experience in Munis financial software is preferred. Must be eligible to become a notary and apply within three (3) months of hire. Ability to be bonded is required. Special Requirements: Willing to obtain certification from the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association if not currently certified. The certification process is a three (3) year program for each Assistant Treasurer and Collector position followed by required testing with a passing grade of 75. All certification requirements are subject to funding availability.
