Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking an Assistant Transportation Supervisor to oversee facility transportation operations and personnel. You will help schedule officers, supervise transport activities, and step in for the Transportation Supervisor or Manager as needed.

Responsibilities include training officers on policies, maintaining vehicle and DOT compliance, and generating reports. This role requires leadership, organization, and strong communication skills in a corrections environment.

Qualifications

• One (1) year transportation experience.
• Valid proper class motor vehicle operator's license.
• Must have completed an approved training program resulting in a certification of satisfactory completion in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements for Hours of Service and Vehicle inspections.
• Ability to set standards and procedures to establish satisfactory levels of performance, quality, and productivity.
• Ability to coordinate the demands of the transportation operations.
• Effective personnel interaction, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques.
• Sound and effective leadership skills.
• Ability to effectively train staff.
• Ability to write reports, memorandums, policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist Transportation Supervisor or Manager in training Transportation Officers on transportation policies and procedures.
• Schedule Transportation Officers work assignments.
• Monitor Transportation Officers during transport to ensure care and custody of detainees.
• Ensure maintenance schedules and repairs of all assigned vehicles; review defects and repairs.
• Respond, investigate, and report on accidents involving Transportation Officers.
• Transport detainees in emergencies or when needed.
• Issue orders for vehicle departures and posted times.
• Ensure weapons qualifications are current for Transportation Officers.
• Maintain DOT files and regulatory records; support month-end billings.
• Attend trainings on transportation/regulatory topics and network with transportation authorities.
• May perform duties of Transportation Supervisor or Manager in their absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
