Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Transportation Manager to establish and maintain a smooth operation within the Transportation Department, providing 24-hour coverage and staff support for warehousing logistics.

You will direct dispatchers, enforce safety standards, optimize scheduling, and collaborate with warehousing and distribution to resolve issues while training and developing a capable team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in all facets of outbound transportation, preferably in a distribution center.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, and Access; PeopleNet or similar programs.
• Experience managing drivers including hiring, training, motivating teammates, and resolving teammate relations.
• 2+ years of accounting, planning, analytical and/or reporting experience.
• Ability to present information to managers, customers, vendors, and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Direct and motivate teammates.
• Coordinate investigation of accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions per safety standards.
• Maintain compliance with Federal DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Oversee transportation dispatchers and processes within the domicile.
• Ensure effective scheduling of Transportation staff.
• Facilitate communication within management and with teammates.
