Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Transmission Engineer in Denver, CO to support licensed engineers in designing high-voltage transmission projects (69-500 kV). You will assist from concept through design, review production drawings, and help prepare plan/profile and foundation drawings while applying standard civil/structural concepts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program; ABET preferred.
Engineering internship or related consulting experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of civil/structural engineering techniques and codes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities

Assist in transmission line design from conceptual phase through design completion.
Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for 69-500kV lines.
Contribute to design of line components including plan/profile drawings and foundation diagrams.
Apply basic civil/structural engineering concepts.
Compile project data, studies and reports as needed.
Update drawings in CAD software under supervision of senior engineers.
Assist in client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
Conduct field inspections, measurements or calculations as required.
Perform other duties and comply with policies.
