Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Transmission Engineer to support licensed engineers in creating world-class designs for new projects, redevelopments, and upgrades of high voltage transmission lines. You will help refine designs through the design and construction process, adapting plans to budget constraints and client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (ABET accreditation strongly preferred).
• Or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology and successful FE exam completion.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transmission line design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Review and modify production drawings for high voltage lines (69-500kV).
• Design transmission line components including plans, profiles, structures and foundations.
• Support field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
• Contribute to studies, reports, and client presentations.
• Assist with CAD drawing updates and project coordination.
