Job summary

Grand Avenue Preschool and Daycare in Western Springs is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support our preschool age classroom. A high school diploma or GED and the ability to pass background checks are required. Prior childcare experience is preferred.

This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm, with compensation of $18–$19/hour depending on education and experience. We are a family-oriented, close-knit organization offering competitive pay, paid trainings, a generous benefits package

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the center's philosophy and goals.
• Implement activities that support each child's growth in emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and implement improvements for program quality.
• Create and maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
• Establish professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Demonstrate physical ability to work around small children (sitting, standing, walking, running, stairs).
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and meet all physical requirements.

Main Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.
• Implement activities that encourage each child's growth in the areas of emotion, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and feedback, and make improvements and changes as necessary for the betterment of the quality of the program.
• Create and maintain an environment that is clean and safe for all children.
• Establishing a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
