Job summary

Kiddie Academy of Whitestone in Flushing is seeking an Assistant Teacher who is passionate and experienced in caring for infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in a daycare or school setting. College students are welcome to apply!

You will assist teachers, maintain a safe, engaging classroom, and contribute to the Life Essentials learning environment with hands-on activities and positive relationships with children and families.

Qualifications

• Experience caring for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers in daycare or school settings.
• Friendly, dependable, and patient with strong teamwork.
• Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a plus.
• Availability to work in person in Flushing, NY.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Establish positive relationships with children and their families.
• Ensure the physical, social, and emotional needs of each child are met daily.
• Assist teachers with supervising children during classroom activities, transitions, playtime, and daily routines.
• Support children's learning and development through games, activities, and hands-on experiences.
• Encourage positive behavior and help children develop strong social skills.
• Ensure all health, safety, and licensing policies and procedures are followed to maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom that promotes learning and safety.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to provide a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Complete required classroom and Academy documentation, including daily notes, attendance records, and student accident reports.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years or older
• Experience working with children preferred (childcare, babysitting, camp, tutoring, etc.)
• Friendly, dependable, and patient
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude
• English-Mandarin bilingual skills are an asset

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (preferred)
• Childcare or experience working with children: 1 year (preferred)
