Job summary

Kiddie Academy of Whitestone is seeking an energetic Lead Teacher to guide a classroom of young learners in person. You will plan activities, supervise staff, and collaborate with families to support child development.

The role emphasizes health and safety protocols and a nurturing, optimistic classroom environment. A degree in Early Childhood Education or related pathway is required or in progress, with bilingual skills considered a plus.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in ECE or on a study plan toward the degree within seven years.
  • CDA certification with a plan toward an ECE degree within seven years; or GED with early childhood credits and a plan toward an AA in ECE.
  • GED plus required experience and plan toward an AA in ECE, with seven-year timeline.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and supervise daily classroom activities and students.
  • Establish relationships with children and families.
  • Ensure health, safety, and developmentally appropriate practice are implemented.
  • Oversee classroom paperwork and daily notes and attendance.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily planning, management, and supervision of the classroom and children. Generally, is assisted in the classroom by an assistant teacher.

  • Establish relationships with children and their families.
  • Ensure that the physical, social and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures to keep the children healthy and safe are being implemented.
  • Assists and supervises children during all activities.
  • Ensures that appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained.
  • Completes all Academy and classroom paperwork: for example, daily notes, student accident reports, attendance reports.
Qualifications
  • An Associate's (AA or AS) degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or
  • Qualify under one of the pathways below while on a study plan working towards anAssociate’sdegree in ECE:
  1. Child Development Associate (CDA) certification and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years; or
  2. High school diploma or equivalent (GED); nine college credits in early childhood education or child development; two years' experience caring for children, and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years; or
  3. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and five years of supervised experience in an infant/toddler classroom if currently employed in a permittedchild careprogram; or
  4. High school diploma or equivalent (GED); and a study plan that is acceptable to the Department leading to nine credits in early childhood education or childhood development within two years; and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years, if currently employed in a permittedchild careprogram.
  • English-Spanish bilingual skills are an asset
