Job summary

Kiddie Academy of Flushing is seeking a Lead Teacher who brings energy, optimism, and inspiration to guide young learners. You will design engaging activities, supervise classroom routines, and partner with families and staff to support each child’s growth.

In a safety-conscious environment, you’ll implement the Life Essentials curriculum, maintain a caring classroom, and contribute to a positive, educational community for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in ECE or pursuing through approved pathway toward it.
  • CDA certification with a plan toward an associate degree in ECE within seven years.
  • High school diploma or GED with nine college credits in ECE or child development and a plan toward an associate degree within seven years.
  • High school diploma or GED with five years of supervised experience in an infant/toddler classroom if currently employed in a permitted child care program.
  • High school diploma or GED with a plan toward nine credits in ECE within two years and toward an associate degree within seven years.
  • English-Mandarin bilingual skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and supervise daily classroom activities.
  • Establish relationships with children and families.
  • Ensure the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
  • Assist and supervise children during activities.
  • Maintain appearance, cleanliness and safety of the classroom.
  • Complete daily notes, attendance reports, and accident reports.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for the daily planning, management, and supervision of the classroom and children. Generally, is assisted in the classroom by an assistant teacher.

  • Establish relationships with children and their families.
  • Ensure that the physical, social and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures to keep the children healthy and safe are being implemented.
  • Assists and supervises children during all activities.
  • Ensures that appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained.
  • Completes all Academy and classroom paperwork: for example, daily notes, student accident reports, attendance reports.
Qualifications:
  • An Associate's (AA or AS) degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or
  • Qualify under one of the pathways below while on a study plan working towards anAssociate’sdegree in ECE:
  1. Child Development Associate (CDA) certification and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years; or
  2. High school diploma or equivalent (GED); nine college credits in early childhood education or child development; two years' experience caring for children, and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years; or
  3. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and five years of supervised experience in an infant/toddler classroomif currently employedin a permittedchild careprogram; or
  4. High school diploma or equivalent (GED); and a study plan that is acceptable to the Department leading to nine credits in early childhood education or childhood development within two years; and a study plan leading to an associate's degree in early childhood education within seven years, if currently employed in a permittedchild careprogram.
