Job summary

Kiddie Academy in New York is hiring an Assistant Teacher to join a caring team of childcare professionals. You will supervise and interact with children, assist with lesson plans, and help maintain a safe, clean classroom environment.

The position requires availability for a split schedule (8:15am–3:00pm three days a week and 8:15am–5:30pm two days a week), a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed. Sick time, health care, and a 401K are offered.

• Must be available to work 8:15am to 3pm three days a week and 8:15am to 5:30pm two days a week.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years
• Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
• Highly professional and dependable
• Must be able to interact appropriately with students, parents, coworkers and management
• Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday

Responsibilities

• Helps, supervises and interacts with the children during all activities
• Counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise
• Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for classroom activities
• Ensures appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom
• Assists children with mealtimes and clean-up, encouraging independence
• Completes academy and classroom paperwork such as daily notes and attendance reports
• Attends staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings
• Works with lead teacher to prepare and implement classroom lesson plans
• Ensures equipment is in good working condition and properly maintained
• Keeps items neat and organized
• Performs other duties as assigned

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained
• Assists children with mealtimes and clean-up encouraging independence
• Completes all necessary academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested
• Works with the lead teacher to prepare and implement classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules
• Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly
• Keeps all items neat and organized
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
