YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area in Annandale, NJ is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support early childhood learning on a full-time hourly basis, Monday through Friday.

In this role you will plan engaging activities, partner with families, and foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with children in professional, volunteer, or familial settings.
• High school diploma is required.
• Associate or Bachelor degree or college credits in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services preferred.
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances.

Responsibilities

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn.
• Being patient and kind with our parents.
• Cultivating and fostering a safe and nurturing environment that will encourage physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children in the program.
• Adjusting curriculum to ensure that all children meet the learning objectives.
• Utilizing state and YMCA guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of the children.

What is needed for this job

• Are 21+ and have 2+ years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity
• High school diploma
• Associate/Bachelor degree or college credits from an accredited college or university in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field preferred
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances
