Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. in Monroe, NC is seeking an Assistant Teacher / Bus Driver to support preschool classrooms and transport children to and from school.

The role offers a stable Monday–Friday schedule with a 6:45am–2:45pm shift and a starting rate of up to $18.50 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities. The position emphasizes building relationships with children and families, with PSLF eligibility and a strong benefits package designed to support staff

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and CDA, with 6–12 months of related experience preferred.
• EDU 119 is required.
• CDL is required or must obtain within 90 days.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or must obtain.
• Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans.
• Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.
• Maintain classroom documentation and records.
• Supervise children in classroom and outdoor settings.
• Assist with transportation by driving or monitoring buses.
• Build positive relationships with children and families.

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a caring, dependable professional to support our preschool classrooms while also assisting with the safe transportation of children to and from school. Starting Rate: Up to $18.50 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday 6:45am-2:45pm (40 hours/week)

• Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver I: High School Diploma/ GED & Child Development Associate (CDA). Six months to one year of related experience preferred
• Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver II: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field preferred. Six months to one year of related experience preferred
• EDU 119 required
• CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.
• Valid driver's license required

Physical Requirements

Must be able to actively supervise young children in classroom and outdoor environments, assist children on and off the bus, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
