Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver to support Head Start preschool classrooms in Hamlet, NC and assist with safe transportation for children. This role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, benefits, growth opportunities, and a stable work environment.

The position starts at up to $18.50 per hour with 40 hours weekly. Eligible for PSLF, BCBSNC medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), holidays, leave, tuition assistance,

Qualifications

• Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver I: High School Diploma/ GED & CDA. Six months to one year of related experience preferred
• Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver II: Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field preferred. Six months to one year of related experience preferred
• EDU 119 required
• CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.
• Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans
• Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development
• Maintain classroom documentation and records
• Supervise children in classroom and outdoor settings
• Assist with transportation by driving or monitoring buses
• Build positive relationships with children and families

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a caring, dependable professional to support our Head Start preschool classrooms while also assisting with the safe transportation of children to and from school. Starting Rate

Up to $18.50 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday 6:45am-2:45pm (40 hours/week)

Physical Requirements

Must be able to actively supervise young children in classroom and outdoor environments, assist children on and off the bus, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
